Pro Mach’s division Ossid is all set to introduce its new leak-resistant stretch overwrapper, which has been designed for red meat, pork, poultry and produce packers.

The new 500 intermittent motion overwrapper features an open stainless steel frame, which makes it easy for operators and maintenance personnel to access machine components.

It also comprises a host of standard features as well as a wrap rate of up to 40 trays per minute. The welded center seal of the machine allows for quality printing on both the top and bottom of packages.

According to the company, the machine uses 36-41% less film compared to standard overwrappers and cuts down consumable costs, and its easy-to-operate control panel can store up to 50 tray programs.

The machine features Ossid's gripper chain stretch technology, which provides consistent film stretch ensuring optimum package appearance in the retail case.

Suitable for both high and low-profile products, the new machine accommodates trays from 5.75 X 8 inches (146 X 203mm) up to 10 x 15 inches (254 x 381mm) and tray heights up to 5  inches (133mm).

Ossid vice president and general manager Ernie Newell said the machine has been built to cater to the needs of small to mid-sized packers in the US, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

"These companies can be assured that the 500im delivers quality, reliability, and ruggedness at up to 40 overwrapped trays per minute," Newell said.

The stretch overwrapper, which features newly designed automatic indexer, water recirculation system and trimmed center seal, will be introduced at the International Poultry Expo to be held from 29-31 January in Atlanta.
